About
Our Story
Founded in 1998 by Howard Kovatch and Tess Walden, fPublishing began with a simple belief: remarkable stories can come from anywhere, and the right publishing partner can help them reach readers everywhere.
Howard and Tess entered the business after years of working with leading global publishing houses, where they developed deep experience across editorial development, rights management, international distribution, and author relations. Both are now respected veterans of the publishing world, known for identifying distinctive voices and helping niche fiction find loyal, lasting audiences.
In its early years, fPublishing focused on carefully selected fiction titles, especially works that served passionate genre communities. Rather than chasing every trend, the company built its reputation by publishing stories with strong world-building, memorable characters, and clear reader appeal.
Over time, fPublishing developed a specialty in niche fictional spaces, including speculative fiction, literary fantasy, supernatural drama, alternative history, and character-led adventure series. Several of its titles became best-selling works within their categories, helping the company build long-term relationships with authors, illustrators, agents, retailers, and international partners.
As reader tastes evolved, so did fPublishing. The company expanded into graphic novel publishing, combining its editorial background with a growing appreciation for visual storytelling. Today, graphic novels represent the majority of fPublishing's business and remain central to its creative and commercial strategy.
